After receiving an art scholarship in high school and pursuing two-dimensional art, primarily watercolour paintings, over the last few years I have done more three-dimensional art. A good friend introduced me to soapstone and I fell in love with it immediately. I have been carving for close to a year and it seems to blend with my simple study of animal forms. I try to bring out the animals with as few lines as possible and allow the stone to form how it wants.
